What are our manual therapy services in Columbus, Ohio?
Manual therapy includes a variety of skilled, “hands on” techniques in which a therapist will use their own body (typically hands and arms) to improve the function of a patient’s muscles, joints, tendons, ligaments, fascia and other soft tissue. Manual therapy requires extensive knowledge of the musculoskeletal, neurological and physiological systems of the body in order to identify and correct dysfunction in these tissues. I use manual therapy with almost all of my patients in every treatment. Some of the manual therapy techniques that I may use in treatment include:
- Joint mobilizations/manipulations
- Active Soft Tissue Release/Mobilization
- Graston Technique (GT) or Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTYM)
- Muscle Energy Technique (MET)
- Soft Tissue Mobilization
- Dry Needling
- Myofasical release (MFR)
Why Our Columbus Ohio Manual Therapy?
Over time, whether it be due to daily stress and wear and tear or extreme athletic activity, our tissues and joints can become stiff. Increased tension or tightness in muscles, soft tissue and joints can cause pain, dysfunction and decreased strength. If a joint is not moving correctly, then all of the muscles and tissues around that joint cannot work properly either! For this reason, it is one of our top priorities to get your body moving the way it should. Manual therapy is one of the best and quickest ways to improve the flexibility of your muscles and joints, often resulting in immediate pain relief and improved function, as well as decreased need for anti-inflammatory and other pain relieving medications! This leads to happier patients and less time spent in the clinic. It also lets us then focus an individualized home exercise plan to help you maintain your new-found motion!
